Here are eight must-visit destinations once you are in Jinja…
- Source of the Nile
The Nile, also the world’s longest river, has its source at Lake Victoria (Jinja Uganda). A tour to the source of the opens you up to endless sights and a lifetime of awe. While it’s possible to stop at the source of the Nile, there is also a list of other activities you can indulge in, including a cruise down the Nile, bungee jumping, and so much more!
- Bujagali Falls (White Water Rafting)
Bujagali Falls is located about ten kilometers from Jinja municipality. Previously, the falls were popular for their remarkable sight and beauty but were later submerged by the Bujagali Dam after its construction. Much as this slowed down activities at the falls, there is still a lot you can indulge in including birding, white water rafting, and canoeing, among others.
- Bungee Uganda (Bungee Jumping)
Located about 3km from Ambercoat Jinja, Bungee Uganda sits at Plot M130, Kimaka Road and this is a must-go-to place on your visit to Jinja. Hundreds of locals and non-nationals have experienced unforgettable moments while Bunjee jumping. Thinking of adventure in Jinja? Include Bungee Jumping on your bucket list.
- Kagulu Hill
Kagulu Hill is located in Buyende, about thirty kilometers from Kamuli town. The Hill is popular for its Rock, Kagulu Rock, which sits amidst two roads one leading to Gwaya, and the other to Iyingo. The rock is also believed to be the monument that marked the settlement of the Basoga people in the region after they migrated from the Bunyoro Kingdom.
- Old and New Bridges
Jinja has old and new bridges, the oldest being the Train Bridge or Jinja Railway Bridge. Other Bridges include the old Nalubaale Bridge built in 1954 and the new Jinja Nile Bridge which was recently constructed and was on 17th October 2018 commissioned by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni of Uganda.

- Railway Museum
The Railway Museum is located along Iganga Highway, and it was opened in March 2022. The Railway Museum offers an opportunity for one to capture Uganda’s history as far as Railway construction in East Africa is concerned. The place also has resources one could use for research. - Mabira Forest
The Mabira rainforest is situated along Jinja Kampala highway and extends to Lugazi and Buikwe District. The forest sits on over 300 square kilometers (120 sq mi) (30,000 hectares (74,000 acres)) and is home to various animals, herbs, birds, name it. The forest is popular for birding experiences, nature walks, zip-lining, and according to Mabira Central Forest Reserve, The reserve is home to about 315 species of birds, 312 species of trees, 218 butterfly species, 97 moth species, and 23 small mammal species.
- Itanda Falls
Situated about 18 kilometers Northwest of Jinja City, Itanda Falls are located on the White Nile River and are popularly known for kayaking and white-water rafting. Since the constructing of a Dam at Bujagali, Itanda Falls has become increasingly popular. The falls are also a popular destination for birders, campers, and picnickers.
