Money

The official currency of Uganda is the Ugandan Shilling (UGX). The notes come in denominations of 1,000 through to 50,000. $US notes and credit cards are accepted by nearly all tourist hotels and lodges. You will find a foreign exchange (forex) bureau upon arrival at Entebbe International. Visa and MasterCard Credits are widely accepted.

Health

Consult a health care professional or visit a travel health clinic preferably six weeks before you travel. Most parts of Uganda contain a malaria risk and preventative medication is considered mandatory for travellers.

Security

Uganda is a largely peaceful country and the vast majority of tourist visits are enjoyed without incident. Opportunistic crime like burglaries, purses and jewellery snatching, theft from hotel rooms, muggings. We advise you to always carry your money securely and use safes in the hotels that you visit.
